Electronic prescription ΕOPYY
Private ophthalmologists (freelancers) who are not contracted with EOPYY, but who are certified in the Electronic Prescribing System of the Organization, have the right according to the Law:
- provide prescriptions and advice on essential vision aids (glasses or contact lenses)
- to prescribe medicines or consumables.
- to assign for outpatient examinations (laboratory, imaging),
- to examine the insured of the Organization for a fee.
For their consults or ophthalmological examination, the certified doctors are paid by the insured of the Organization themselves, of course reimbursing the “Proof of Provision of Services” corresponding to the cost of the medical operations.
Ophthalmological examination of candidate drivers
Both the acquisition of a new and the renewal of an older driving license require, among other things, the examination by an ophthalmologist contracted with the Ministry of Transport.
When you arrive, it is necessary to present the following:

- A recent color passport photo of a new type.
- Your police ID or passport.
- Your insurance booklet where the Registration Number (AMA) and the Α.Μ.Κ.Α.
- Your eyeglasses or contact lenses (if any).
History of previous ophthalmic surgeries (cataract, glaucoma, strabismus, refractive, etc.)
The old driver’s license (only in case of renewal or extension).
At the end of the examination (the cost of which is set at € 10) and if you meet the limits of visual acuity set by law, you receive a signed / stamped certificate accompanied by proof of payment for the medical examination issued in your name.
Contracted Public Services
- Contracted with the Ministry of Transport (driving licenses).
- Contracted with the fund of the Ministry of National Defence.
- Contracted with EDOEAP.
