The ophthalmologist’s office started operating in 2016. Our goal is to find the best approach, with respect for the patient. The state-of-the-art equipment of the office and the high scientific training aim at the best provision of services to our patients, offering modern medical services in all fields of ophthalmology.

Equipment

The office has modern medical equipment, which includes:

A modern complete ophthalmological examination unit.

Imaging system of photography – video recording of the front half.

State-of-the-art machines for assessing the refractive condition of the eye

Electronic Forcopter for the most detailed measurement of refractive diseases Myopia, Hyperopia, Astigmatism and Presbyopia. Replaces the test by manually changing the test glasses on the test frame.

New generation LCD optotype with the ability to study Contrast sensitivity and macular control with Amsler Grid, but also with highly specialized children’s programs.

Phacometer for measuring all types of glasses (simple – multifocal – contact lenses) with the ability to assess the quality of the filter (UV absorption) of sunglasses.

Intraocular pressure measurement with level tonometer (Goldmann type).

Main diagnostic tests and therapeutic operations performed in the office:

  • Visual acuity measurement
  • Refractive testing (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia)
  • Assessment of color perception
  • Contrast sensitivity test
  • Keratometry
  • Phacometry
  • Biomicroscopy
  • Tonometry – performing a pressure curve
  • Angleoscopy
  • Diffusion under mydriasis – peripheral examination with Goldmann lens
  • Pediatric Ophthalmological Examination
  • Shading
  • Dry eye control (quantity and quality of tears, adequacy of their action)
    • Schirmer test
    • Lissamine green, flurosceine
  • Tear duct drainage check, tear opening and tear duct catheterization
  • Application testing and training in the correct use of contact lenses
  • Administration of vision aids – electronic prescription

Advanced diagnostic tests performed at collaborating ophthalmological centers:

  • Preoperative examination of refractive surgeries (laser myopia, astigmatism, hyperopia, presbyopia)
  • Preoperative examination of cataract surgery
  • Biometrics
  • Corneal thickness
  • Corneal topography
  • Measurement of endothelial cells
  • Optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the macula and optic nerve
  • Automatic Perimeter (Humphrey field of view)
  • HRT optic nerve
  • Ψηφιακή Φωτογραφία Βυθού
  • Digital fluorography
  • Angiography with Indocyanine ICG
  • Retinal angiography without contrast with OCT optical tomography
  • Ultrasound examination of the eyes (A-scan, B-scan, UBM)

Operations performed in certified cooperating ophthalmological centers:

  • Retinal photocoagulation with Argon laser
    • in threatened retinal detachment (retinal crack)
    • in diabetic retinopathy, venous obstruction, etc.
  • Posterior capsule resection with YAG laser – treatment of posterior peripheral blur, secondary cataract
  • Peripheral iridotomy with YAG laser – treatment of closed angle glaucoma
  • ALT / SLT trabeculoplasty – laser treatment of glaucoma

Surgeries performed in organized surgeries and under anesthesia:

  • Cataract surgery
    • combination of phacoemulsification with femtosecond laser
    • insertion of premium intraocular lenses for simultaneous treatment of other refractive errors other than myopia / hyperopia (spherical aberrations, high astigmatism, presbyopia, etc.)
  • Refractive surgery using laser to correct myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia. Refractive surgery with femtosecond laser without the use of a microkeratome – “blade”
    Glaucoma Surgeries
  • Glaucoma Surgeries
  • Intravitreal Injections (injections) of anti-VEGF agents or corticosteroids for age-related fluid degeneration or diabetic macular degeneration
  • Fin removal
  • Eyelid surgeries (quartz, moles, xanthelasmas, etc.)

Contracted Public Services

  • Contracted with the Ministry of Transport (driving licenses).
  • Contracted with the fund of the Ministry of National Defence.
  • Contracted with EDOEAP.

Contracted electronic prescription (drugs, glasses far – near) EOPYY – Non-contracted Doctor with the EOPYY.

Electronic prescription ΕOPYY

Private ophthalmologists (freelancers) who are not contracted with EOPYY, but who are certified in the Electronic Prescribing System of the Organization, have the right according to the Law:

  • provide prescriptions and advice on essential vision aids (glasses or contact lenses)
  • to prescribe medicines or consumables.
  • to assign for outpatient examinations (laboratory, imaging),
  • to examine the insured of the Organization for a fee.

For their consults or ophthalmological examination, the certified doctors are paid by the insured of the Organization themselves, of course reimbursing the “Proof of Provision of Services” corresponding to the cost of the medical operations.
